- Tuesday May 20, 6-9pmThe Blue Room, Coffs Ex-Services, Vernon Street, Coffs Harbour
- The Rescue Rail Forum: Sydney to Brisbane Line is organised by the Mid-North Coast Greens and the Pacific Highway Alliance
- The world is running out of crude oil. NSW transports 88% of non bulk freight by road transport. Our transportation sector is fuelled by almost 100% liquid fuels. Climate Change is fuelled at an ever rising rate by CO2 emissions; causing pressure on world food, land and water resources. Despite rail being some 20 times safer than road freight, trucks remain the principle mode of transport in moving freight.
- Motorways condemn us to expanding road freight corridors running through the heart of our communities, threatening our biodiversity, carrying more and more trucks and cars with increasing levels of noise and air pollution and Greenhouse gas emissions. They discourage public transport and disadvantage competition from rail freight.
