Globalisation at the Precipice?

Greens Sydney Forum: Globalisation at the Precipice? :: Mortgage Crisis, Global Financial Instability, Runaway Inflation.. where’s it all heading? :: Steve Keen, Frank Stilwell

  • Saturday 31 May, 3pm
  • Sydney Mechanics Institute, Pitt St, Sydney - Google Maps
  • Mortgage Crisis, Global Financial Instability, Runaway Inflation..  where’s it all heading?
  • Free market ideologues tell us that deregulation, financial speculation and the rich getting richer are not only inevitable but desirable.  Yet now with turmoil in global finance, the collapse of the US subprime mortgage market and growing inflationary pressures in the Australian economy there are worrying signs that we may be facing the worst global economic crisis since the 1930s.
  • With both major parties committed to neoliberal policies there has never been a greater need for alternative analyses and visions.  We are very lucky to have two of Australia's sharpest economic thinkers, Steve Keen and Frank Stilwell, at this forum. They will be explaining what's going wrong and opening discussion on how we can get out of this mess.
